John has been a Principal with Barney & Barney since 2006. He and his Executive Liability Practice work with a large number of public and private companies helping them maximize the integration of corporate governance issues with their risk management needs.
John’s insurance-related experience spans 23 years. Prior to joining Barney & Barney, John was the Regional Financial Lines Manager for a division of a global insurance broker where he was responsible for directors & officers liability, professional liability, employment practices liability, and related coverages for 14 offices in the West.
Earlier in his career, John managed claim departments and held a national role at a global broker for D&O and professional liability coverage advocacy. He has managed over 100 public company D&O programs.
John is a frequent author and public speaker on a host of topics that include, among others: insurance, indemnification, corporate governance and executive and professional liability. John serves on the Board of Directors and several committees of the Corporate Directors Forum. He is also a corporate member of Financial Executives International.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia, and a Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law. He is currently a non-practicing member of the Virginia Bar.
